June 11th 2012 For Immediate Release
The Bethel Historical Society and local publisher Seraphemera Books announces the first in a hopefully annual tradition of celebrating the birthday of Bethel’s favorite showman son P.T. Barnum.
On July 5th, at 6:00pm, out by the Barnum statue at the Bethel Library, join us for a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday, refreshments, and our ode to Barnum’s infamous top hat and the hatters of Bethel – with a crazy-beautiful-awesome-spectacular- humbug hat contest.
Come decked out in your fanciful, your frightful, your fantastic, your festive – consider it our own version of the Kentucky Derby hat-tacular tradition! Prizes will be awarded. All ages encouraged!
