CITYCENTER DANBURY & UNION SAVINGS BANK CONTINUE 2012 SUMMER CONCERT SERIES WITH “THE SIXTIES SHOW” FRI, JULY 6 & “GUNSMOKE”  SAT, JULY  7 ATOP THE PATRIOT GARAGE

“THERE’S SOMETHING GOING ON DOWNTOWN!”

CityCenter Danbury’s concert presentation of “Pops Under the Stars” with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, played atop the Patriot Garage, was rousingly received, and since the Danbury Green bandshell is being renewed, CityCenter Danbury is going up on the roof again, with a celebration of the 60’s and of country music on the weekend after July 4th. With the support of Union Savings Bank; Comcast; Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith; Danbury Parking Authority; BRT; Danbury Cultural Commission;  Hat City Pools, and Downtown businesses, this summer season is sizzling.

The Sixties Show™, in performance on Friday, July 6th,  is NYC based and is regarded as The Greatest 1960‘s Musical Tribute Show in The World. The act features former members of Billy Joel’s and Elton John’s band, The Boston Pops® and current members of The Smithereens.  The members of The Sixties Show have toured and played with legendary acts such as Paul McCartney, The Beach Boys,  Mick Jagger, The Bee Gees, Blondie, Little Steven {Bruce Springsteen} Pete Townsend. Opening the evening is Phoenix Tree, and CityCenter Danbury’s “Non-Profit in the Spotlight” is the Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT).

Gunsmoke, performing on Saturday, July 7th, is celebrating 25 years of entertaining audiences with their brand of Classic Country Music. The Nashville Recording Artists, have been inducted into the Connecticut Country Music Hall of Fame, The Country Music and Dance Hall of Fame in Mount Kisco NY, and elected Band of the Year six years in a row by, The New York Metro CMA. They have performed with musical legends, such as, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Hank Williams Jr., Ray Price, and countless other country legends. They have performed for The President of the United States as well as on the World Famous Ernest Tubb’s Midnite Jamboree, in Nashville, TN, following The Grand Ole Opry. This Premier Country Band always brings a refreshing entertaining show for all ages to enjoy. Opening the evening  is The Midnight Blues, and CityCenter Danbury’s “Non-Profit in the Spotlight” is The Youth Volunteer Corps of Western Connecticut.

Performances begin at 7 pm, with headliners taking the stage at 8 pm. Parking is readily available at the Patriot Garage (but not on the roof!) and the concerts are elevator accessible.
