Congregational Assistance Program Provides Free Training for Area Faith Community
The following was sent in by the Housatonic Valley Coalition Against Substance Abuse–
Congregational Assistance Program in August in Southbury / Open to Clergy & Members of all faiths (no cost)
Addictions to alcohol, drugs, gambling & other mental health issues affect everyone in our society. Often times when people have a friend, relative or fellow congregant struggling with such issues, they are unsure about “what to do” or “where to go” for help.
CAP provides free training by addiction professionals on topics such as prevention, intervention, available treatment options, community resources, referrals & ongoing support services. Faith communities are already full of human as well as spiritual resources which help to create safe, caring environments conducive to giving & receiving help.
CAP training will simply enhance the trainee’s ability to identify, reach out & respond to those in need, and; to offer the best support available towards healthier living and recovery.
When is it?
Part 1: Monday August 6th 5-9pm
Part 2: Monday August 13th 5-9pm
All trainings begin with a light supper
Location: Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury, CT 06488
