Fire Marshal Urges Residents to Check Smoke Alarms After Reservoir Street House Fire
The following is a press release from: Thomas Galliford, Fire Marshal
On Friday July 27 at around 12:30 p.m. Bethel and Stony Hill Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 30 Reservoir St. Fire Department personnel quickly extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature in the attic area and exact cause still under investigation. The home suffered moderate fire and water damage. Building occupants are staying with neighbors. No injuries were reported.
The homeowner became aware of the fire after hearing the smoke detectors sounding. It is very important to note that working smoke alarms save lives!
Please check your home to be sure your smoke detectors are working properly and call 911 as soon as you see smoke or flames.
