A new leader has been appointed as the new principal of Bethel High School and students say he is taking the school by storm.
August 29th marked the first day on the job in his new position for Mr. Christopher Troetti. He previously served as assistant principal to Dr. Cosentino who has left to assume a superintendent job elsewhere. Now at the top of the chain of command within the school, he plans to make some very big changes.
Troetti stated: “I will be continuing everything that Dr. Cosentino has done but not just continue, I plan on increasing upon the foundation she has laid.”
Utilizing technology is one plan for change he wants to implement. Technology plays a giant part in education, he said.
“I will be bringing the B.Y.O.T. (Bring Your Own Technology) to the school to further motivate students to be innovative and use technology to learn.”
Technology and social media plays a big role in the lives of students. Apps that can be downloaded to an iPad, iPhone or other devices can be educational and Troetti feels these will help them in their learning environment.
Mr. Troetti is also working on group skill with students and encouraging them to become more involved with others n their learning community. He wants them to spend more time in groups and to have teachers express how working in a group is like. Troetti also plans on having student government play a much bigger role in the school, rather than just planning homecoming or prom.
As Bethel High School grows and welcomes new students Bethel from other towns and states and in some cases other countries, Troetti plans on working with different language instructors and partnering students who know the language with those who don’t understand English.
There will be many challenges to face in his new position but Mr. Troetti is prepared to take them on and help the school to improve and become one of the best in the state.
