Bethel Police Assist Ridgefield in Search for Alleged “Gunman” Monday Morning
Ridgefield police arrested 22-year-old Wilfredo Seda of Redding Monday, December, 17, 2012 on the charge of “breach of peace” after an eyewitness reported a suspicious looking individual near the Branchville train station. According to reports, the eyewitness saw a man walking with a dark clothing and what appeared to be a rifle on his back. With Branchville Elementary School in close proximity, Ridgefield Schools went into lockdown. Redding and Easton Schools went into lockdown as well as a safety precaution while they searched for the suspect.
According to Bethel Police Captain Bruckenthal, he, along with 2 other officers, got the call shortly after 8:00 a.m. Monday morning and assisted Ridgefield Police in searching for the man who was apprehended after several hours of searching.
The Ridgefield police, assisted by Bethel and several other law enforcement agencies, were able to secure the area and conduct a search. According to the police report, Seda was wearing all black clothing, a cap and a bearded mask. He had an umbrella strapped across his back making it look like a Samurai sword.
Seda is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Jan. 3, 2013.
