Newtown Resident Offers Flag Trees as Memorial Site for Sandy Hook Victims

Howard Lasher and his wife Jeanette are inviting mourners to his home, 68 Dodgingtown Road in Newtown, to pay their respects for the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Lasher’s home is the site of the American Flag Memorial on Route #302 in the Dodgingtown section of town. They have hosted a memorial every year since 9/11 to honor those victims of the 9/11 tragedy and would like to offer the site at the Flag Memorial to all within the community or beyond who want to leave photos, poems, cards, flowers or just say a solemn prayer in honor of those killed in the horrific tragedy. The American Flag Tree Memorial has offered a place of mourning for many and the Lashers would like to open their site to the public in this time of mourning. The trees on Mr. Lasher’s property were painted by local artist David Merrill after the tragedy of 9/11.
