Bethel Fire Marshal Reminds Residents to “Adopt A Hydrant”
From Bethel Fire Marshal Thomas Galliford–
“Reminder to “Adopt a Fire Hydrant” this winter. As the snow piles up outside, please locate the closest fire hydrant to your property and shovel the snow from around it. Most hydrants do have marker flags, but valuable time can be lost in digging out the snow from it during a fire.”
Editor’s note: According to Fire Engineering‘s website:
Be safe and warm this winter
- Keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from heating equipment, like the furnace, fireplace, wood stove, or portable sapce heater.
- Have a three-foot “kid-free zone” around open fires and space heaters.
- Never use your oven to heat your home.
